For those of you not speaking or reading Swedish, here is a very short description in English of our accordeon club.

Times are changing and the accordeon is nowadays not as popular as it used to be, but we are persisting in our efforts to maintain this musical tradition. Höganäs Dragspelsklubb (The Accordeon Club of Höganäs) started in 1973 and is still going strong. Although we wish to have some younger participants joining us, we are convinced that the future will bring even that. Apart from the accordeon, the orchestra today also has members playing the guitar, the violin, the clarinet and the piano. And we are a bunch of happy amateurs.

Our repertoar is quite extensive and we play in churches, at midsummer dances, in homes for elderly people, at sing-a-long-events and local country festivals.

The playing of the accordeon in Sweden is particularly associated with summer and outdoor dancing and we are lucky to live in the very south of Sweden, in the beautiful county of Skåne (Scania), where the summers are long and warm. Höganäs is a small friendly town with about 15.000 inhabitants and situated at the coastline of north western Skåne, called Kullabygden.

You are welcome to visit one excellent web site for Skåne :
